Big Lunch Update

Entries for the Big Lunch Beer Challenge are coming in by the van load so please keep them coming. I have secured a panel of celebrity judges including Tim Hampson, Melissa Cole and Adrian Tierney Jones. Watch this space for more updates.

So many times, it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the cream of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all in the eye of the tiger

I'm trying to make the connection... Big hair, big head? Anyways, that's a picture of Firehouse, one of the worst bands ever to win an MTV award (beating Alice In Chains and Nirvana for best hard rock act), not Survivor, whose lyrics you reproduce above. The only thing I can add is the connection perhaps is referring to the fact that one would need to consume very large quantities of beer to ever feel remotely comfortable about listening to Firehouse, or indeed Survivor (therein lies the challenge?). It's a long bow, mate. I've said my piece. Good luck with the Beer Challenge.

Koops hi,

The picture of the ladyboys from firehouse was found on a google image search for challenge. I just put it up for amusement really. No relation to the ladyboys from survivor.

Fair enough, but know that wherever I see injustice I am compelled to speak out against it! Ha! I am amused and uncomfortable all at the same time...

If I had known that Scott Ian had looked so gay only years before I would have never scratched Anthrax on my desk at School.

I see the deadline has been extended by 6 months for this one? Now don't get me wrong, I think it's great that you're running this competition, but altering the goalposts after a load of entries has already been submitted is not really that fair IMHO.

Those beers already submitted are gonna be completely different by the time it gets to next January!

Graeme hi, I am sorry but the deadline was extended (without telling me) because the entry rate was low. Please rest assured that your beer along with the other earlier entries will be judged this week at its best and marked according to the same criteria as any beers submitted subsequently.

All beers will be judged independently of each other so it should still be a level playing field.

From the description on the entry your beer sounds like it's going to be lovely.

Thanks for the reply Stuart - and thanks for the useful info. It's good to hear that all the early entries are gonna be judged this way and that the playing field should be nice and level for everyone who has gotten a beer to you! Hope you enjoy (enjoyed?) all the beers :)
